Michael Williams, 18, was charged with three counts of third-degree invasion of privacy and one count of fourth-degree tampering with evidence, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said in a news release on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Rutgers police received a report from a female student on Wednesday, Oct. 2 that she was being recorded in a bathroom. Similar incidents were also reported on the New Brunswick campus over the next three weeks.

Investigators said Williams used his cellphone to make the shower recordings. He was arrested on Friday, Oct. 25, and held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center to await a detention hearing.

Anyone with information about the case should call the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-3287 or the Rutgers University Police Department at 848-932-4815.
